A tragic case of domestic violence emerged from Maryland, with 32-year-old Rogerio Palma facing charges for the murder of his girlfriend. FOX Baltimore reported that Palma, from College Park, was arrested after his 24-year-old girlfriend, Brianna Burton from Centreville, Virginia, died from gunshot wounds.
After being dropped off at a hospital at approximately 7:20 a.m. on Sunday, Burton succumbed to her injuries. Montgomery County Police initially investigated the incident, and later it was determined that she was shot in Prince George's County, leading to Palma's arrest on April 29. He is now in the custody of Prince George's County Department of Corrections, charged with first and second-degree murder, among other related charges. FOX 5 DC added details showing surveillance video that captured the intense moments when Palma brought Burton to the White Oak Medical Center over the weekend, then left the scene.
Police investigation revealed the relationship between the victim and the suspect, and WUSA 9 reported that investigators believe despite Burton dying at a Silver Spring hospital, she was shot in Prince George's County. Palma's quick departure after leaving Burton at the emergency room led to his capture by the PGPD's Fugitive Unit two days following the incident.
