A tragic collision in Licking County resulted in the death of a 21-year-old Columbus woman on Tuesday afternoon. According to ABC6, Rachel Jared was pronounced deceased at the scene of the crash, which occurred on State Route 37.
The Ohio State Highway Patrol reported that the accident happened when a Ford Expedition, driven by 19-year-old Anthony Jared, went left of center and collided with a box truck moving in the southbound lane. The Patrol indicated the crash took place around 12:40 p.m. near Refugee Road. Anthony, alongside his father Michael Jared, 42, was immediately transported to Mount Carmel East to be treated for injuries, as detailed in coverage by WBNS.
The force of the impact was such that it not only claimed the life of Rachel but also ensured both her brother and father needed immediate hospitalization. Cory Bealer, the 35-year-old driver of the Hino box truck involved in the accident, was fortunately not injured. Local authorities, alongside the Ohio State Highway Patrol, continue to look into the precise cause of the crash.
