Andrew Walker Jr., a 61-year-old convicted felon, is now in custody on charges relating to a series of thefts and an aggravated robbery in the Nashville area. According to a Nashville Police Department release, Walker is accused of a March 16 holdup at the Mapco at 6509 Charlotte Pike. The Lebanon, Tennessee, resident has been further implicated in a string of thefts since mid-February.
Several businesses suffered losses with Walker alleged to have executed the thefts: on March 4 at the Twice Daily on White Bridge Road, where cartons of cigarettes were taken; the February 26 incident at a Dollar General on Centennial Boulevard, involving items like laundry detergent; and not one, but two break-ins at Aimrok Distributors on Nolensville Pike, with cigarettes valuing a combined $15,000 having been stolen. Secure within the caress of steel trailers, cigarettes were found accessible to Walker, who allegedly broke in.
The suspect's history with the law dates back decades, as Walker has multiple prior theft convictions recorded since 1997. Beyond the boundaries of Nashville, his suspected activities extend to Hendersonville and Goodlettsville, where similar crimes are under investigation. The bond for his release has been set high, at $97,000, reflecting the severity and repetition of his alleged offenses.
Current reports suggest Walker remains jailed and is awaiting further legal proceedings. Given the weight of evidence and his extensive criminal background, authorities treat this arrest with the gravity fitting for a repeat offender. While behind bars, he laid down a $97,000 bond, so Walker may have time to consider the actions that led him back into the criminal justice system. Intelligence from other regional law enforcement agencies may still result in additional charges as the investigation into his alleged crime spree continues.
