Authorities in Crafton are actively searching for 35-year-old Christian Spruill, who is suspected of attempting to kidnap a local woman last night. As per WPXI, the police responded to an incident involving a crashed vehicle, a red Toyota 4 Runner, near Fountain Street and Sycamore Street at around 10:27 p.m. The victim was allegedly forced into the vehicle by Spruill but managed to escape after the crash and flagged down officers for assistance.
The manhunt for Spruill intensified as K-9s, drones, and officers searched the vicinity unsuccessfully to locate him. Standing at 5 feet 11 inches and weighing around 160 pounds, Spruill has been described as currently homeless and is likely moving around the Pittsburgh area. Police are urging anyone with information on his location to urgently call 911 or reach out to the Crafton Police Department.
According to a report by WTAE, this incident is the escalation of a month-long period wherein Spruill has allegedly been harassing and stalking the victim, who is his ex-girlfriend. Before the crash, witnesses claimed that Spruill became angry with the victim at her residence, took her phone, and then "threw her into the passenger seat of his vehicle" before driving away at high speed, which ultimately led to the crash.
The authorities have confirmed that Spruill has three active warrants for his arrest related to ongoing threats, harassment, stalking, and domestic violence. He is considered to be potentially dangerous and may be armed. Anyone with details of his whereabouts is strongly encouraged to contact law enforcement.
