As the summer heat begins to beckon tourists and locals alike, the Dakota County Historical Society has announced the opening of its historic sites for the tour season. Starting this May, history enthusiasts can get a glimpse into the past with guided tours of the LeDuc Historic Estate and the Sibley Historic Site.

With affordability in mind, according to the latest announcement, tours are reasonably priced at $10 for adults, $8 for seniors aged 60 and over and $6 for students aged 5–17, with children four years and younger enjoying free entry. Members of the Dakota County Historical Society are also privy to complimentary admission for general tours.

The LeDuc Historic Estate, nestled at 1629 Vermillion Street in Hastings, will open its gates on Thursday, May 15. Visitors can explore the estate Thursdays through Sundays, with tours scheduled at 10 a.m., 11:30 a.m., 1 p.m., 2:30 p.m., and the last one at 4 p.m. Each guided journey into the estate's history will last about an hour.

Opening a week later, the Sibley Historic Site invites guests to discover its storied walls on Fridays through Sundays beginning May 23. Located at 1357 Sibley Memorial Highway in Mendota, the tours will mirror those of the LeDuc Estate, starting at 10 a.m., and with the final tour starting promptly at 4 p.m., attendees will travel back in time as they traverse the site.

Registration for both historic locations is limited, underscoring the necessity to plan ahead. For those interested in walking the halls of history, booking your spot sooner rather than later is advisable to avoid missing out on this educational experience.
