The City of Denton is poised to revisit its Development Code, with proposed amendments that could reshape the landscape for Commercial Animal Services within its borders. As announced by the city, a public hearing is scheduled for May 20 to provide a forum for discussing and possibly adopting changes to various sections of the Code, including permitted uses, parking requirements, and definitions.
According to the City of Denton official notice, the amendments encompass revisions to Table 5.2-A, which lists allowed uses, modifications to Use Specific Standards across several sections, and adjustments to parking criteria. This effort, conducted by the City's Development Services Department, reaches into the heart of the Denton 2040 Comprehensive Plan, and thus, carries weight for the foreseeable civic blueprint. The City Council meeting, open to the public, encourages civic engagement.
For those keen on participating, whether to advocate, dissent, or simply witness the democratic process, provisions have been made for in-person attendance. The hearing is scheduled to commence at 6:30 PM in the City Hall Council Chambers, located at 215 E. McKinney St., Denton, TX.
In preparation for the hearing, those seeking to delve deeper into the proposed code amendments and staff analysis may contact Bryce Van Arsdale at (940) 349-8368 or via email at [email protected]. On May 16, the meeting agenda, along with related exhibits, will be made available at www.cityofdenton.com/public-meetings.
