Commuters in Denver are bracing for the anticipated inconveniences as the Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT) begins intensive work on Santa Fe Drive, targeting upgrades and renovations slated to last through the summer. This major project will stretch from the Interstate 25 interchange to Florida Avenue, focusing on a swath of US 85 used daily by thousands.
Traffic disruptions are part of the package, as at least one lane will be available during the nighttime work hours between 8 p.m. and 6 a.m. from Sunday to Friday, although drivers should steel themselves for potential delays, with single and double-lane closures that may add up to 10 minutes to journey times, aiming to reduce the project's impact on day-to-day transit the work includes new concrete sidewalks and ADA ramps, bridge deck repairs crucial for safety, and roadway resurfacing is meant to smooth out the ride for motorists, according to CDOT.
The foresight behind the updates is clear, with intentions to bolster the structural integrity of the South Platte River Bridge and sidewalks that will be more accessible for pedestrians and cyclists. Brannan Sand and Gravel Co., a Denver-based contractor, carries the responsibility for cutting through the heart of the roadway's burdens and breathing new life into the concrete and steel that bear the weight of Denver's travelers.
