On Monday morning, around 10:30 a.m., officers responded to a report of gunfire in the 18700 block of Winthrop Street near Greenfield and Seven Mile roads, where they found a man in his mid-20s with a gunshot wound. As reported by The Detroit News, Captain Matthew Bray of the Detroit Police stated, "We feel very sorry for them, and we're going to work as hard as we can to hold those who committed this incident responsible."
A block away from the shooting, a rollover crash occurred near Greenfield Road and Clarita Avenue. While officials do not believe the driver who was struck is linked to the shooting incident, they are probing whether the vehicle that hit them is connected. The person responsible for the collision is currently at large, CBS News Detroit relayed from the police. The sequence of events has led to a person being detained for inquiry. However, formal identification or arrest of a suspect in either event has yet to be made.
