Las Vegas Metro Police Sergeant Kevin Menon will plead guilty to all charges in three separate criminal cases, his attorney Robert Draskovich said. The charges involve abuse of power, illegal arrests on the Strip, and possession of child abuse material. The proposed sentence is 4 to 10 years in prison, according to FOX5 Vegas.
Draskovich said Menon accepted the plea deal "due to the strength of the evidence against him," as reported by News 3lv. He added that Menon had support from his family throughout the case. Menon was accused of detaining and arresting several people without probable cause on the Las Vegas Strip.
Menon was found with child sexual abuse material on his electronic devices during an investigation into misconduct. This led to two more criminal cases. He took a plea deal that combined all three cases and admitted to five felonies and three gross misdemeanors, including illegal arrests and possession of child sexual abuse material. Menon said he acted in response to problems in the police department. He was released on his "own recognizance" and placed under house arrest. His sentencing is scheduled for August 4, as mentioned by FOX5 Vegas.
