Tragedy struck in a Montebello neighborhood on Tuesday evening as police are now piecing together the events that led to the deaths of two individuals in what appears to be a violent chain of events. According to KTLA, officers responded to a report of a shooting in an apartment on the 800 block of West Mines Avenue around 7:20 p.m., discovering a woman with gunshot wounds. Despite rapid transport to a local hospital, the victim was pronounced dead shortly after arrival.
The initial investigation led authorities to a Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck parked nearby, where inside they found a deceased man from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head. Witnesses described seeing an individual running from the area, hinting at a connection between the site of the shooting and the vehicle. However, the police have yet to release any details about a motive for the incident.
In a separate but possibly related development, NBC Los Angeles reports on another shooting incident that unfolded just around the corner on the same block. A resident told the publication he heard a scream followed by the sound of gunshots. The area cordoned off by law enforcement included the location where the pickup truck, which bore a bullet hole in its window, was uncovered.
