Two men lost their lives in a violent incident in Lakeland on Monday. Polk County Sheriff's deputies responded to a crash on Pirates Way in the Secret Cove neighborhood, where a 2019 Mercedes had hit a house. The driver, 19-year-old Davin Boutwell of Mulberry, was found dead from a gunshot wound, and 38-year-old Nathaniel Jones of Lakeland, a bicyclist, was found dead under the vehicle.
Deputies found two bags of marijuana and a stack of cash inside the car while searching the wreckage in a bedroom of the home. The crash occurred around 1:30 pm, according to the Polk County Sheriff's Office.
