
In a recent takedown by the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department Major Crimes Bureau, eight individuals have been arrested in connection to a string of cargo thefts that spanned across Los Angeles County and beyond state lines. In a statement released on the department's Facebook page, the operation was a collaborative effort with the Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms (ATF), leading to the execution of multi-location search warrants.
The sweep by the LASD Major Crimes Bureau – Cargo Criminal Apprehension Team (CCATS) not only rounded up suspects but also netted a variety of stolen goods. According to the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department, amongst the recovered items were coffee beans, a selection of electronics including Sony televisions and Kenwood speakers, miscellaneous items like A/C Units and hot chocolate, along with L'Oreal products.
Detectives also recovered an impressive haul of 288 e-bikes, with an estimated value of $1,359,226. "LASD MCB detectives combating cargo theft and keeping our communities safe!" as stated by the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department.
