A plywood-covered storefront at Westfield Century City is the first sign that Series A, the Beverly Hills coffee and matcha shop known for its sweet potato coffee and cream-top drinks, is opening a second location inside the mall. The new cafe is set to take over a former Pret A Manger space on Level 1, with co-founder Derek Rhie targeting an opening in the first quarter of 2027.
From One Wilshire Boulevard Shop to a Mall Storefront
Series A currently operates a single location at 8328 Wilshire Boulevard in Beverly Hills, a shop The Infatuation describes as a cafe where, in the outlet's words, nothing seems safe from becoming a drink. The Century City location will sit at 10250 Santa Monica Boulevard, on Level 1 of the shopping center, according to WhatNow, which cites the Westfield directory's placement of the listing. That directory currently marks the shop as coming soon.
The signage spotted on-site lines up with a separate sighting from local blog toddrickallen.com, which reported plywood covering the old, short-lived Pret A Manger space in the Westfield Century City Shopping Center announcing the arrival of Series A. The same report describes Series A as a lifestyle brand dedicated to elevated coffee and matcha, and notes the chain currently has just the one location in Beverly Hills.
Investors, Growth Plans, and a Measured Expansion
Per WhatNow, Rhie said Series A relied on existing investors to secure the Century City location and to evaluate other opportunities. He's also in active lease negotiations for several additional locations, though he told the outlet that none of those additional sites are close to being announced. For now, Rhie said the company's focus is on opening and establishing the Century City shop before expanding further, while adding that the business could use more investment to support its broader growth plans.
What's on the Menu
Fans of the Beverly Hills original can expect the same roster of inventive drinks to anchor the new location. The Infatuation's review calls out a sweet potato coffee and a black matcha cream top as standouts, alongside a mango sticky rice cream tea and a honeycomb toffee latte. Those offerings have helped build Series A's reputation for specialty coffee, matcha, and cream-top drinks that go well beyond a standard cafe menu.
