The El Paso Police Department is set to host a series of events in honor of National Police Week 2025, paying tribute to the law enforcement officers who have demonstrated extraordinary commitment and those who have made the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty. National Police Week, an annual observance in May, creates a nationwide forum for law enforcement entities to unite in memory and respect for their fallen comrades.
The schedule of commemorative happenings in El Paso includes the Police Department Memorial Ceremony on May 16th at 9:00 AM, which will take place at Chuck Heinrich Park. This venue, named after Officer Andrew Barcena, provides a space for the community and the department to reflect on the valor of those who served. The week’s events began with a partnership involving the local baseball team and a day dedicated to the maintenance and honor of the resting places of fallen officers, according to the El Paso Police Department.
In addition to the memorial, the El Paso City Council is slated to issue a City Proclamation on Tuesday, May 13th, at 9:00 AM to officially honor National Police Week, further engraining the week's significance at a governmental level. The proclamation serves as a formal recognition of the service provided by law enforcement professionals.
