
Tragedy struck in Sun City on Saturday, May 10, when an elderly couple was discovered dead in their home, setting off an investigation by local authorities. According to FOX 10 Phoenix, the Maricopa County Sheriff's Office (MCSO) responded to the scene near Thunderbird Road and Del Webb Boulevard just before 3:00 p.m. following an "unknown trouble call for service." Found deceased were Darlene Cook, aged 73, and Harley Cook, aged 82.
The MCSO has yet to release details surrounding the cause of death, stirring unease despite their assurance that there is no known threat to the community. As reported by 12 News, the identities of the deceased couple were confirmed, though their relationship to each other remains undiscussed by the officials.
Located in Arizona's expansive Maricopa County, Sun City is part of the Phoenix Metropolitan Area, colloquially known as “The Valley.” This swath of urban and suburban sprawl is an agglomeration of cities that together cradle over 4.8 million souls, as noted by the 2020 U.S. Census.
