A tragic incident took place earlier today in Jacksonville when, a man was fatally stabbed at the Morris Manor Apartments, a senior living facility. According to First Coast News, officers responded around 2:15 a.m. to the complex located at 9050 Norfolk Blvd. in the city's Northwest, discovering a man between 70 and 75 years old with multiple stab wounds.
The Jacksonville Fire and Rescue Department pronounced the man dead at the scene. News4Jax reported that the man had walked out of a second-floor apartment after being stabbed, before collapsing in the lobby. Detectives quickly detained a woman believed to have been in the apartment, she is in her 60s according to the report.
The Morris Manor Apartments cater to individuals 62 and older and those with impaired mobility. Details surrounding the stabbing are still under investigation, with law enforcement officials piecing together what led up to the fatal encounter. In a statement from Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office Sgt. Steve Rudlaff, obtained by First Coast News, "At this time, we believe it was an isolated incident."
