As reported by WBTV, the Union County Sheriff's Office confirmed that the fire occurred around 10 a.m. at a residence along Whispering Hollow Lane, close to Cane Creek Road in Waxhaw. Despite the prompt response from emergency crews who extinguished the fire quickly, one elderly resident was found deceased inside.
According to information from WCCB Charlotte, a second occupant had a narrow escape, managing to flee the burning structure by climbing out of a window. The individual received treatment at the scene before being transported to the hospital, where they are expected to recover.
