
A fatal incident occurred early Sunday morning in Emmett Township when an argument between neighbors turned deadly, resulting in a stabbing. As reported by WWMT, police arrived around 4:18 a.m. at East Columbia Avenue near M66 and found a 40-year-old man lying in front of the suspect's residence, deceased from multiple stab wounds.
According to the Emmett Township Department of Public Safety, cited by WOODTV, the confrontation began when the victim approached the suspect's door to address an earlier incident. The suspect, who was 50 years old, came out armed with a knife and attacked the victim multiple times before retreating back into his apartment, leading to the victim's death.
Neighborhood individuals tried to intercede during the violence, but their efforts were unsuccessful. The suspect was detained inside his apartment by law enforcement, as MLive noted. He is currently being held at the Calhoun County Jail facing multiple felony charges while the investigation continues.
The victim’s name hasn’t been released yet, as the family is still being notified. Although paramedics and officers responded quickly after the stabbing, the man sadly died at the scene. Several agencies, including the Calhoun County Sheriff’s Office and Battle Creek Police, helped with the response, as per MLive.
