In a recent clampdown on drug-related activities, the Eugene Police Street Crimes Unit (SCU) has apprehended two suspects linked to illegal narcotics delivery. The SCU launched their investigation targeting 39-year-old Anthony Miro Latin and 41-year-old Christina Amber Schmisek earlier in 2025, after receiving tips about drug sales from a transitional housing camp situated in the 1600 block of West 18th Avenue.
The probe set in motion a series of events culminating in a warranted search across multiple locations in March 2025, including Latin's residence, a nearby hotel room, and a storage unit. Found in possession of roughly one pound of powdered fentanyl and nearly $3,000 in cash, the evidence also comprised a Glock handgun and materials indicative of identity theft. An SCU officer, investigating the narcotics delivery, reported that Latin was caught selling fentanyl and methamphetamine, a link to the drugs recovered.
Both suspects were eventually arrested by Eugene Police Patrol officers on May 5, resulting in their detention at Lane County Jail. Latin, with a history of felony conviction, was barred from firearm possession in California, which did not deter him from maintaining a Glock. Schmisek, already on the radar with warrants from another county in Oregon, finds herself back in the law's embrace. According to the City of Eugene, the charges against the duo are severe and touch upon identity theft, firearm possession by felons, and controlled substance offenses.
Specifically, Latin faces multiple charges including "Identity Theft, Felon in Possession of Firearm, Manufacturing/Delivery of a Controlled Substance within 1,000 Feet of a School, Possession of Controlled Substance Schedule 2." As for Schmisek, her alleged transgressions include "Identity Theft, Possession of Controlled Substance Schedule 2, Felon in Possession of Firearm, Escape in the Third Degree." The details, provided by the Eugene Police Department, per the City of Eugene.
