On Sunday evening, a 40-year-old man was stabbed and killed in a parking lot on the 10000 block of Fair Oaks Boulevard in Fair Oaks. Deputies arrived just before 8 PM and found the victim with multiple stab wounds. Despite first aid, the man was declared dead by Fire Department personnel, as reported by the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office.
The suspect, 25-year-old Jordan Murray, had an earlier physical altercation with the victim and later returned with an accomplice. During the second encounter, Murray stabbed the victim in the chest. Murray was arrested the next morning in South Sacramento County and is scheduled to appear in court on Thursday, as stated by the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office.
According to the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office on their Facebook page, Murray’s criminal history includes a 2024 robbery at a Dollar Tree on Sunrise Boulevard where he used a caustic chemical against an employee, and another robbery in Fair Oaks where he attacked an employee before stealing an electric bike. He was arrested promptly but released in November 2024 after a court granted him mental health diversion. The Sheriff’s Office described a recent incident involving Murray as a “completely preventable murder” and noted that questions have been raised regarding his release and post-release monitoring.
