Tragedy struck on I-45 near Conroe as a head-on collision led to a devastating car fire late Sunday night. The Woodlands Fire Department confirmed that the accident resulted in one fatality and left three others injured. KHOU reports that emergency crews reached the scene shortly after the crash, which occurred just after 8:15 p.m., involving two vehicles that both caught fire.
Upon the arrival of the Woodlands Fire Department Rescue 101, quickly extinguishing the fires, the details surrounding the event remain scant. A child sadly lost their life in the on-scene moment, a heartbreaking turn of events conveyed by officials to FOX 26 Houston. Additionally, a mother and another child from the same vehicle suffered severe third-degree burns and were promptly transported to a local hospital for urgent care.
The driver of the blue Toyota Camry, who hit a broken-down car on the shoulder, is in stable condition at the hospital. Conroe Police, the Montgomery County Sheriff's Office, and the Department of Public Safety are working together to investigate the cause of the deadly crash, as reported by FOX 26 Houston.
