
An incident unfolded at the intersection of Cullen Boulevard and Schurmier Road on Tuesday afternoon when a white International concrete mixer, disregarding a stop sign, collided with a Toyota Corolla. The Houston Police Department is currently investigating the incident which left one man dead and another hospitalized. According to a statement obtained by the City of Houston, the crash occurred roughly around 1:35 p.m.
The 69-year-old driver of an Corolla was declared dead at the scene by paramedics. His name has yet to be released, pending notification of family members by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences. There was also a passenger in the Corolla, who survived the crash and was transported to an area hospital in stable condition.
Sergeant V. Vo and Officer R. Ramos of the HPD Vehicular Crimes Division reported that after colliding with the Corolla, the driver of the concrete mixer was questioned by police. He was found not to be under the influence of any intoxicants and was subsequently released, while the investigation into the crash continues.
