A traffic incident last night has led to an investigation of a deadly crash on Route 65 in Emsworth, as reported by local authorities. The collision occurred near the intersection of Hazelwood Avenue just after 10:40 p.m., causing a significant shutdown of the southbound lanes for several hours while emergency services attended the scene, according to WPXI.
Responders from the Emsworth Volunteer Fire Company were amongst the first on the scene, having to quickly assess a solitary vehicle that had collided with a utility pole. According to CBS News, "the southbound lanes of the road were shut down for several hours while first responders were investigating." This crash has invariably disrupted the ebb and flow of nocturnal transit, with Channel 11 crews observing the aftermath and the Allegheny County Medical Examiner's presence signaling the grave nature of the accident.
Allegheny County dispatchers did not report hospital transports despite the evident severity of the crash. Channel 11 crews at the scene detailed a car with heavy damage, and the absence of immediate medical transport has sparked concerns regarding the condition and perhaps the fate of the occupants within the stricken vehicle.
Officers from the Ohio Township Police Department are leading an in-depth investigation into the circumstances leading up to the crash. As of yet, authorities have not disclosed what might have caused the vehicle to lose its course so traumatically.
