A deadly blaze struck a Flatbush apartment building, claiming the life of a 50-year-old man and injuring another, as fire engulfed a residence on Lenox Road last night, according to officials. ABC7NY reports that the fire broke out shortly after 10 p.m., leading to a discovery by firefighters.

The unidentified man was pronounced dead within the confines of his home, where he was found by first responders, while a 52-year-old suffered minor burns and received medical attention at SUNY Downstate Hospital. As ABC7NY details, a resident recounted the harrowing conditions as the fire spread, stating, "It's crazy you go inside, and inside on the second floor it was all dark, the whole apartment was burned down. You go on the third floor that was attacked as well. The fire department they had to go on the third floor as well and they had to blow out all of the windows."

More than 60 firefighters and EMS workers were dispatched to the blaze, managing to subdue the inferno in approximately sixty minutes.

Following the incident, video footage showed the extent of the damage, including soot-covered walls, broken windows, and fire marshals inspecting the site. FDNY fire marshals are conducting a detailed investigation to determine the cause of the fire, as reported by News 12 Brooklyn.
