According to the Arizona Department of Public Safety, the incident which occurred around 1:30 a.m. and involved three cars, has also resulted in at least two hospitalizations, while the eastbound freeway near the site of the wreckage stands shuttered with no clear timeline given for its reopening and drivers are advised to anticipate delays traffic backup has already extended to 51st Avenue by 4:30 a.m., Arizona's Family confirms.
The exact cause of the crash has not been disclosed as investigations are ongoing, and officials have yet to provide a detailed account of the circumstances leading up to the fatal event. Meanwhile, motorists are urged to seek alternative routes.
