A fatal collision early this morning disrupted traffic on State Road 44 in DeLand, where one driver was killed, and two others were injured when two trucks collided. The Florida Highway Patrol stated the accident occurred just before 8 a.m. at the intersection of State Road 44, New York Avenue, and Shell Road, as reported by Clickorlando.
The vehicles involved were a 2018 Toyota Tacoma and a 2023 Dodge Ram 2500. The driver of the Tacoma was pronounced dead at the scene, the identity yet to be confirmed. Meanwhile, the Dodge Ram's driver and passenger were taken to AdventHealth DeLand, both having sustained non-life-threatening injuries. FHP has not published further details as the crash remains to be thoroughly investigated, and they are urging any possible witnesses to come forward.
According to WESH, West New York Avenue was shut down in both directions, prompting drivers to seek out alternatives, with Old New York Avenue suggested as a viable detour route.
