Waterford Township Fire Chief Matthew Nye stated, "We're not sure exactly how it started, but the call came in about 5:50 this morning, and crews arrived to find heavy fire involved in the attic," as he spoke to the hardships faced by the responding firefighters who initially attempted an aggressive stop but were forced to withdraw as the structure began collapsing, leading to a defensive tactic against the flames. Audacy detailed that the crews managed to reach the scene in four minutes, but struggled with the fierce inferno, which was strong enough to push them back and challenge their efforts to contain it.
