While the blaze is now 80% contained, the cause of the fire is still under investigation. According to CAL FIRE, numerous firefighting air tankers nationwide have continued to fly suppression missions quickly as conditions allow. This coordination of aerial support with ground resources has proven critical in controlling the spread of the flames.
The swift response of emergency crews has ensured that the fire did not grow beyond the initial acreage, providing reassurance to the residents of Brentwood. The fire started yesterday and in less than a day, significant progress was made to bring the situation under control.
Remaining firefighting crews on the ground are diligent in their efforts to fully extinguish the remnants of the blaze, with only 3 engines currently assigned to the task. This strategic deployment mimics the initial successful tactic of leveraging a strong, multi-agency approach to combat the fire. The public is advised to stay informed about the latest developments of the #WalnutFire as crews continue to work toward 100% containment.
