The weather forecast for Dallas predicts showers and possibly a thunderstorm before 4 pm on May 6th, with additional storms possibly occurring after 4 pm. Highs are expected to be near 71 degrees, with an impactful east wind at 10 to 15 mph and gusts as high as 25 mph. The flood threat extends well into the night, with a 30 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms mainly before 7 pm, followed by patchy fog.
Furthermore, a Flood Watch remains in effect until late tonight. Rainfall is anticipated to range from 1 to 3 inches, with isolated amounts exceeding 5 inches, possibly causing excessive runoff and potential flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone areas. The statement from the National Weather Service reads, urging caution in the affected areas, which include parts of north central, northeast, and south-central Texas.
But that's not all—a Flood Warning has been issued as well, specifically for the Trinity River at Dallas, which is forecasted to experience minor flooding conditions. The river is expected to rise above flood stage by the afternoon of May 6th, hitting a crest of 34.0 feet early Wednesday morning before it recedes below flood stage by Thursday. The impacts of this minor flooding include the submersion of low-water crossings and grazing areas.
