A Florida man was taken into custody yesterday after Longwood Police Department officers responded to an emergency involving a barricaded individual and his girlfriend. According to a report by WFTV, the incident occurred in the 300 block of Orange Avenue in Longwood.
Michael Quincy Sanders, age 40, was identified as the suspect who had allegedly barricaded himself in the residence with another victim, threatening violence upon anyone attempting to gain entry. The officers and the Seminole County Crisis Negotiation Team were able to make contact and, after a brief negotiation, convinced Sanders to surrender voluntarily.
The initial arrival of Longwood Police Department personnel was followed by the discovery of a female victim who had reportedly left the residence after sustaining injuries. WESH indicated the injuries were superficial. The woman's encounter with Sanders prefaced the standoff that led to his arrest and transport to the John E. Polk Correctional Facility.
