Yesterday, 21-year-old Annaka Trudell was convicted in a Fond du Lac courtroom for the fatal stabbing of Ashley Calo. According to FOX 6 Milwaukee, Trudell was found guilty of first-degree reckless homicide, conspiracy to commit armed robbery, and related charges. The incident occurred in February during a drug transaction involving 57 Percocet pills, valued between $250 and $500.
The altercation broke out during the attempted purchase, leading to Calo’s death. Fond du Lac County District Attorney Eric Toney made the convictions public yesterday as per FOX11 News.
NBC 26 reported that the stabbing happened outside Calo’s vehicle while her three-year-old son was present. The child was unharmed. When informed of Calo’s death, Trudell reportedly said, “I didn’t mean to kill her.”
Another person involved in the case, 22-year-old Dawson Miller, is facing charges including felony murder, aiding a felon, and armed robbery as a party to a crime. Authorities allege Miller helped Trudell evade police and had planned to rob Calo. His trial is scheduled to begin on October 6.
Trudell's sentencing date has not yet been set. Her next court appearance is scheduled for a status conference on July 25, according to the district attorney’s office.
