Nubia Gonzalez, the former treasurer of a Scottsdale school's parent-teacher group, has been sentenced to four years of supervised probation following charges of stealing over $36,000. The 39-year-old pleaded guilty to a count of felony theft last April and on May 19 began her probation, which includes a restitution order to pay back the stolen amount in full, as reported by FOX 10 Phoenix.

Further digging into the case has uncovered that Gonzalez, after being entrusted with the bank accounts of Cocopah Middle School's Association of Parents and Teachers (APT), withdrew substantial sums, leading the savings account to be wiped out. Gonzalez made several withdrawals and deposited $22,300 into her own account, which police say was used for personal expenses like credit card payments, and she still has $14,212 unaccounted for, as per a report by 12News.

In addition to her probation terms, Gonzalez must seek approval to leave the state and has been banned from contacting the victims or returning to the scene of the crime. The case took a turn when Gonzalez turned herself in, following multiple failed attempts to contact her, and a subsequent indictment by a grand jury in Yuma for separate but related theft charges.

The complexity of Gonzalez's involvement further thickens, as it was revealed she had an active warrant for her arrest for theft of public funds in Yuma County, on top of the Scottsdale allegations—details of which are still sealed until her court appearance, expected soon. However, the exact details of those allegations remain unclear, as the Attorney General's Office, led by Kris Mayes, has yet to release a statement on the matter.
