A Fort Collins man has been indicted on charges of bank robbery with a particularly high-stakes addendum. According to the U.S. Department of Justice, 21-year-old Isaac Meraz allegedly committed the crime at the Ent Credit Union on Drake Road.

It seems, on Tuesday afternoon, Meraz sought to blur the lines between deceit and reality, donning a rubber mask and fake hair to pose as a bank auditor. Once inside, he proceeded to seemingly brandish a handgun to forcibly lead three employees to the vault. The criminal complaint relayed that amid the climate of fear and intimidation that was unspooled before them, a staff member complied and handed over the contents of the vault. Some of the stolen money, as well as the weapon, which turned out to be a realistic-looking BB gun, were left behind as Meraz made his escape.

Authorities were quick to respond, resulting in Meraz's arrest just outside the credit union shortly after the robbery. His arrest appears to be the result of swift joint efforts by the Federal Bureau of Investigation's Denver Field Office and Fort Collins Police Services.
