In Fort Worth, the local fire department is taking a proactive measure to ensure the safety of the community's children doesn't take a back seat during the summer break. In a partnership with the Fort Worth ISD Transportation Division, the Fort Worth Fire Department recently conducted a safety training session specifically tailored for the district's bus drivers. This hands-on initiative was documented in a social media post by the Fort Worth Fire Department, detailing the exercises that over 300 FWISD bus drivers participated in at the Wilkerson-Greines Activities Center.
During the "School Bus Safety Training Event," bus drivers were trained to quickly adapt to emergencies. They had to courageously face a simulation of a smoke-filled school bus and learn the correct way to safely evacuate. The drivers also gained firsthand experience on how to properly exit an overturned bus. The Fort Worth Fire Department is dedicated to ensuring that when the rubber meets the road, the district's bus drivers are more than prepared to handle unexpected situations with the lives of students in their hands.
The event was not only about escaping hazardous conditions but also included fire extinguisher training, where drivers practiced on live fire and learned hands-only CPR. Pictures and videos from the event showed enthusiastic participants fully engaged in the practical exercises, proving that learning is a continuous process that stretches far beyond the confines of a classroom or the regular school year.
