The Fort Worth Business Plan Competition is back in action for 2025. It aims to bolster local entrepreneurs with a significant opportunity to get their businesses into the limelight and possibly snag some substantial cash prizes. The City of Fort Worth is championing this initiative, recognizing small businesses' essential role in the economic tapestry of one of the nation's rapidly expanding cities.

According to the City of Fort Worth's latest announcement, this annual competition is not just about prize money; it's a rigorous developmental process to whet entrepreneurs' business acumen, with workshops and expert coaching leading to a polished, comprehensive business plan. Research backs the premise that a well-crafted plan is a stepping stone to better revenue and job creation, critical when local businesses are on the hunt for investors or funding.

Call for applications is now open to any Fort Worth small business owner within the two-to-five-year operational window with less than $1 million annual revenue. Prospective participants have until 11:59 p.m. Sunday, June 15, to confirm their eligibility and submit requisite documents through the city's website.

The stakes for participants are notably high this year, with a total of $20,000 in cash prizes distributed among the top three winners—$10,000 for the first place, $6,000 for the runner-up, and $4,000 for third. The top 20 applicants selected will also gain valuable knowledge from Frost Bank and city partners through dedicated classes. The final throwdown comes on October 14, when the best eight finalists duke it out with their business pitches.
