Get ready to lick some local fro-yo while lounging on the lawns of the Minneapolis Sculpture Garden this summer. Fro Yo Soul Sips + Snacks, a mainstay of the Twin Cities event scene for more than a decade, is set to bring their organic frozen yogurt and a smattering of drinks and snacks to the idyllic setting starting Saturday, June 7. According to the Minneapolis Park and Recreation Board's recent announcement, their famous baby blue bus will be at the park daily from 11 am to 7 pm.
It’s clear the folks at Fro Yo Soul are looking to not just satisfy sweet tooths but also fully engage the community. The menu isn't only about frozen yogurt; it will feature a bevvy of beverages, including local craft beer, wine, and a selection of THC-infused drinks for those who like to imbibe and relax in a rather different way. For those looking to much something salty, there'll be local popcorn and premium hot dogs—with vegetarian and gluten-free options, no less. As Jessi Knudson, co-founder of Fro Yo Soul, put it, “As a Minneapolis native, bringing our business to this iconic city landmark that celebrates both art and community is truly a dream come true.” This sentiment was echoed by her co-founder Zack Rethlake, who added, “We hope to be a spot where people connect over art, nature, and a swirl, snack and sip or two.”
This isn't just another pop-up shop; Fro Yo Soul is committed to sustainability as well. There are plans to roll out a custom-designed electric cart to serve guests throughout the summer, proving that they're serious about reducing their environmental footprint. It's part of their longer-term strategy to better serve visitors, all while staying green.
The Minneapolis Sculpture Garden, a collaboration between the Minneapolis Park and Recreation Board and the Walker Art Center, is more than just sculptures; it's a hub of outdoor activity drawing in over 600,000 visitors each year. With its expansion of food and beverage options, the park seeks to fully enhance the visitor experience. After a Request for Proposals last year, it was Fro Yo Soul that nabbed the spot to set up shop in this lush urban oasis. Their ethos of community and joy seems to be a natural fit for a space dedicated to art and nature, and if there's a way to more enjoyably spend a sunny day than with a fro-yo in hand, I'm all ears.
