
Jose Villa, a 30-year-old man from Galt, was arrested by police after a bicycle theft on the 1000 block of C Street. The Galt Police Department stated that officers tried to contact Villa, but he ran away, leading them on a foot chase through several business complexes. He was eventually arrested.
The Galt Police Department reported that officers were dispatched in response to a bike theft and saw the suspect, Villa, fleeing the scene. "Villa is the same suspect who was arrested in a separate bike theft incident last weekend." The stolen bike was recovered and returned to its owner. Villa was booked into Sacramento County Main Jail on charges of petty theft and resisting arrest. He was released from custody the same day.
According to the Galt Police Department on their Facebook page, "This arrest underscores our commitment to holding repeat offenders accountable and keeping our community safe." The department continues to respond to cases of stolen vehicles, often referred to as "new wheels," which have raised concerns among residents about recurring crime in their neighborhoods.
