Early Friday morning, a 24-year-old Galveston woman was shot outside a local bar after a fight broke out inside the establishment. The incident occurred around 1 a.m. in the vicinity of 25th Street near Broadway Avenue J and Highway 87 according to Click2Houston. Galveston Police Department reports indicate a conflict between two groups of men inside the bar before being ejected by security.

Following the altercation being moved outside, shots were fired in the parking lot, hitting the woman as she and her friends were pulling into a parking spot. "That’s when witnesses say an unidentified man pulled out a gun and started firing shots in the parking lot," as per Click2Houston. She was taken by her friends to John Sealy Hospital, where she is listed in serious condition.

The suspected shooter fled the scene on foot and has been described as a Hispanic male. Running south on 25th Street and then east on Winnie, according to witnesses. Police at the scene interviewed multiple individuals attempting to gather more information.
