In a recent address to residents of Garland, Mayor Scott LeMay expressed his gratitude to the electorate for supporting the 2025 Grow Garland Bond Program, as detailed in a statement on the city's official website. Voters passed Propositions A, B, C, and D during the May 3 election, indicating a strong interest in the city's advancement. LeMay reflects sentimentally on his tenure, which coincidentally started exactly six years before, to the day, with the approval of a sizeable bond dedicated to developing the city's infrastructure.
According to the City of Garland, more than 70% of the projects from the 2019 bond package have been completed under LeMay's leadership, leading to major enhancements in Garland’s parks, libraries, public safety facilities, and the Downtown Square. The Grow Garland Bond Program is set to continue this trajectory, prioritizing improvements and development that LeMay believes will not increase the city's tax rate.
LeMay’s acknowledgment of the community's collaborative spirit speaks to a shared vision of a flourishing future for Garland. His statement emphasizes the crucial roles that residents, the Bond Study Committee, the City Council, and the City staff have played in shaping the city’s trajectory. “Together, we’ve built a vision of a stronger, more prosperous Garland — and now, together, we begin the work of bringing that vision to life,” he said, per the city's news release, in a note of unity.
