The Gatlinburg Community Center pool is set to make a splash once again as it reopens its doors today at 3 p.m. The locals can sigh in relief, seeing their popular aquatic spot emerge from the doldrums of renovation that has kept it closed since February. The city has announced the completion of a significant overhaul, promising a wave of upgraded facilities for eager swimmers and water enthusiasts.
The pool underwent extensive resurfacing in a few months, an updated gutter system was installed, and the surrounding deck got a new surface. Residents can also expect a more modern experience in the locker room showers, part of the revamp designed to enhance comfort and functionality. "This project was an investment in the long-term quality and safety of the City’s recreational facilities," Laurence Evans, the Recreation Director, highlighted in a statement gathered by the City of Gatlinburg's official release.
But it's not just the pool getting a facelift. The city has been consistently campaigning to update the Community Center, with recent renovations also happening at the Bowling Center and equipment upgrades in the tone zone. Gatlinburg City Manager Greg Patterson affirmed that these refurbishments showcase the city's dedication to providing premium recreation options. "We look forward to seeing families, athletes, and community members once again enjoying the pool," he told the city press.
With the reopening, the Community Center is diving back into its regular schedule and program offerings. Fitness-driven early birds and after-work lap swimmers alike can work their strokes from 6 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. on weekdays. On Saturdays, the pool will be open from 10 a.m. until 5:30 p.m., and on Sundays, a more abbreviated schedule will be offered from 1 p.m. to 5:30 p.m.
