The Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI) has ruled the deaths of 19-year-old twins Qaadir Malik Lewis and Naazir Rahim Lewis as a double suicide. The brothers were found with gunshot wounds on Bell Mountain, more than 90 miles from their Lawrenceville home, on March 8, according to FOX 5 Atlanta.

The GBI's investigation included analysis of cellphone location data and surveillance footage, which showed the brothers were alone on their trip. Records indicated that Naazir purchased an airline ticket he did not use and also bought the ammunition linked to the firearm found at the scene. Forensic evidence showed that both brothers had fired the weapon.

The twins' family disagrees with the GBI's conclusion. Their aunt, Samira Brawner said that the brothers appeared to be in good spirits and were planning a trip to Boston. Internet search history on their devices included topics such as how to load a gun and suicide statistics, as Atlanta News First reported.

Despite public interest and calls for further investigation, the GBI states that, based on the evidence, the case will be formally closed in the coming weeks. The Towns County Sheriff's Office has referred further inquiries to the GBI and expressed condolences to the family.
