As Memorial Day weekend approaches, it's a time of reflection for honoring those who've laid down their lives for our nation. The Geauga County Sheriff’s Office issued a sharp safety reminder for the residents observing the holiday. Sheriff Scott A. Hildenbrand emphasized the importance of responsibility on the roads to avoid transforming a time of tribute into a period of tragedy.
The message from the Sheriff's Office, posted on their Facebook page, was clear: "Stay Sober Behind the Wheel" and "Be the Designated Hero." Hildenbrand reminded the public that driving under the influence is a major safety risk and called on those who choose to abstain from substances to help ensure the safety of others by acting as designated drivers. Despite the somber undertones of the memorial holiday, the sheriff's office advocates celebrating responsibly.
The instructions were direct as daylight: "Buckle Up, Every Trip, Every Time." Seatbelt use was highlighted as a non-negotiable in pursuing safe travels. Hildenbrand confirmed in the statement, "Our deputies will be out helping to keep the roads safe," ensuring enforcement is in place for these guidelines. This is not only about law enforcement but about community cooperation.
