A pedestrian tragedy unfolded on Orange Blossom Trail in Osceola County overnight Saturday, with a woman being struck and killed by a vehicle. The incident, which occurred just after midnight, involved a 32-year-old woman from Georgia attempting to cross the road. According to WESH, she was running across the trail in a crosswalk when she fell to the ground, leading to the fatal event.
The Florida Highway Patrol reported that, though the woman was in a marked crosswalk, she was crossing against a "Do Not Cross" signal. Shortly after her fall, she was struck by a 2005 Toyota Highlander driven by an 18-year-old Kissimmee woman. Per a statement obtained by ClickOrlando, the vehicle was traveling southbound in the exterior lane when it hit the pedestrian.
Emergency services responded quickly to the scene, and the Georgia woman was transported to Osceola Regional Medical Center. However, she was pronounced dead upon arrival. The identity of the deceased has not yet been released to the public. The driver of the Toyota remained at the scene and cooperated with authorities, and reportedly did not sustain any injuries.
