As the mercury edges higher in Salt Lake City, folks are looking forward to a sunny week ahead with temperatures soaring into the 90s, according to a recent forecast from the National Weather Service. Today boasts clear skies and a comfortable 68°F (20°C) which is expected to peak near 93°F, while the evening promises mild conditions with a low around 66°F.
The NWS reports that with a relatively low humidity of 14% and winds primarily from the northeast at 9 MPH, residents can enjoy a breezy yet dry day. However, as the wind shifts southwest by afternoon, bringing winds at a light 5 to 10 mph, that's when outdoor activities from jogging to picnics at Liberty Park become even more enticing although remember applying your sunscreen might be a good idea since the UV rays will not be forgiving.
Salt Lakers have more sun-filled days to look forward to with Saturday's temps nudging a high near 89°F under mostly sunny skies; nighttime will dial back to a cooler 62°F. And it doesn't stop there. Sunday continues the trend, with a high yet again hovering around 89°F and an uninterrupted stretch of sunshine, according to National Weather Service. The clear skies will remain through Sunday night, with the low settling around 63°F.
The holiday weekend rounds out with a sunny Memorial Day and even warmer climes; the NWS predicts a possible spike in temperature up to 94°F, so those planning outdoor memorials or barbecues should prepare for the heat, with plenty of hydration to go around, because dehydration is no joke under a blazing sun and when you're distracted by the good times and camaraderie, it's easy to forget to drink water, wear wide-brimmed hats, all that jazz.
Looking into next week, the pattern of warmth seems unwavering with Tuesday and Wednesday delivering highs near 93°F and 96°F, respectively, evenings will offer slight respite. By Thursday, the city could see temperatures nearing 97°F. These predictions suggest no significant deviations from clear, sunlit days and starry, balmy nights stretching well into the week, a regular boon for those craving that Vitamin D or looking to embark on those long-postponed hikes in the Wasatch Front.
