According to a social media post from the department, these scammers call individuals, claiming they've missed a court date or have an outstanding arrest warrant.
With their hands ready to pick the pockets of trusting citizens, the scammers ask for credit card payments or other forms of monetary transfer over the phone. The Grand Prairie Police Department, dedicated to serving and protecting, has categorically stated that they "will never call and ask for credit card payments or money over the phone."
As a countermeasure to the deceit, the department encourages residents to report any suspicious calls impersonating a police officer to their non-emergency line. The Grand Prairie Police Department emphasizes the importance of awareness and vigilance within the community, stating, "If you receive a call like this, hang up immediately and report it by calling our non-emergency line at 972-237-8700."
