Dodi Garcia Flores, a 45-year-old citizen of Guatemala, has been sentenced to two years in federal prison for illegally reentering the United States. U.S. District Judge Richard A. Lazzara issued the sentence following Garcia Flores’s guilty plea earlier this month.
According to the U.S. Attorney's Office release, Garcia Flores had previously been removed from the United States on three occasions: October 15, 2008; May 15, 2009; and February 5, 2020. His criminal record includes felony convictions for resisting an officer with violence, assault in the second degree, and intent to cause physical injury with a weapon.
The case was investigated by U.S. Customs and Border Protection and prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Lindsey Schmidt. Following the prison term, further immigration proceedings are expected.
