Gull Lake Community Schools took the extreme precaution of shutting down all its buildings and programs for today, including Added Advantage Child Care and all after-school activities, following a reported threat of violence. FOX17 reported that the anonymous threat, which specifically mentioned today, was made known to school administrators and law enforcement yesterday.

While confirming the closures, Superintendent Christopher Rundle addressed the situation, as conveyed on the Richland Police Department's Facebook page. The closure will affect all district buildings and programs, said Rundle, as obtained by WWMT. In the tense climate marked by an uptick in school violence, the district didn't waver to err on the side of caution.

According to WOODTV, classes are expected to resume once the threat is deemed by law enforcement to be adequately addressed. The details of the threat have not been shared publicly, but law enforcement is currently investigating the matter. The district is implementing additional security measures in collaboration with the investigation.

Any individuals possessing information about the threat are urged to reach out to Gull Lake High School Principal Don Eastman or district School Resource Officer Deputy Eric Root.
