A Harris County Sheriff's deputy was hospitalized after a collision involving four people in west Harris County on Tuesday night. According to Click2Houston, the incident occurred near the intersection of Greenhouse Road and Hollyhock Drive, close to Cypress Lakes High School, at around 8:30 p.m.
The deputy, who was responding to a mental health call without the deployment of lights and sirens, suffered visible head injuries that were, fortunately, not considered life-threatening. Sgt. Beaty of Harris County Sheriff’s Office vehicular crimes division mentioned that the officer's patrol car flipped and landed on its roof following the collision. The other driver, reportedly having pain in their shoulder, declined hospital treatment and is not facing criminal charges at this time, as reported by Click2Houston.
KHOU 11 shared additional details from Harris County Sheriff’s Office command, confirming that the deputy was the only person taken to the hospital by ambulance from the scene. The condition of the deputy was not immediately available following the crash. Further investigation into the crash is ongoing, and the names and ages of those involved have not been disclosed.
Scene footage showed an overturned sheriff's SUV and a Toyota SUV with heavy front-end damage. A Cy-Fair Fire Department ambulance was on site, but later reports confirmed that the other three people involved in the crash did not need to go to the hospital. The Harris County Sheriff's Office has not yet shared any updates on the deputy's condition or the results of the investigation.
