On Friday morning, deputies from the Hesperia Sheriff's Station responded to a call in the 16000 block of Sequoia Street in Hesperia. They discovered 27-year-old Blake Rutledge, a local of the area, dead from gunshot wounds, as reported by the San Bernardino County Sheriff-Coroner Department. It was approximately 6:14 a.m. when the deputies came across the fatal scene.
Though the details remain sparse, preliminary investigation suggests that several individuals were seen fleeing the vicinity shortly after the shots were heard. An immediate search was initiated by the authorities, however, the suspect or suspects involved in the shooting have not yet been located. The Sheriff’s Specialized Investigations Division – Homicide Detail has taken over the investigation, according to official statements.
The San Bernardino County Sheriff-Coroner Department and Detective A. Duran now lead the quest for answers in what has been officially classified as a murder under penal code PC 187. The community has been urged to come forward with any information that might help bring clarity and justice to this seemingly abrupt and senseless act of violence.
