
A 25-year-old hiker encountered difficulties while hiking Kaua‘i's Kalalau Trail on Tuesday. The visitor contacted first responders around 9:20 a.m., according to the County of Kauai.
Personnel from the Līhu‘e Fire Station flew aboard their Air 1 helicopter to Kalalau Beach to assist a hiker with severe stomach issues. Upon arrival, the hiker was located and prepared for evacuation, as reported by the County of Kauai.
The rescue mission ended with the hiker being transported to Waimea Athletic Field, where Waimea Fire Station and American Medical Response teams provided care for stomach issues. The teams cleared the scene shortly after 11:45 a.m., as stated by the County of Kauai. The response involved coordinated efforts between fire and medical services in Kaua‘i’s remote areas.
